I've been told I have very dense breasts and lots of cysts. The doctors don't really help me or tell me one single thing I can do for this except to keep me in fear by telling me I must have alternating mammograms and MRI's every 6 months. The class brought a LOT of awareness to the specific areas of my body that are tight + probably linked! One of the stretches brought my attention to the tension that shoots down my back pelvis + glutes, and a different hold brought release to the area immediately around my outer breast but increased tension to my shoulder and neck (tension that was already there, I just really feel it now!). I’ll be so curious to see how ongoing work with my breasts at home shifts these tensions + pains over time, now that I’m so much more aware of the cross-body connections. When you guided us to place our hands in the center of our chests and pull our breasts apart, my chest wall started shaking and a wave of tears flooded into me. I wanted to let go and curl in on myself back into my normal slightly hunched posture, but I didn’t. That was so scary at first, but at this point in my trauma healing journey I’m pretty used to seemingly-random movements/touches bringing on giant waves of emotion “out of no where.” That heart opening - literally peeling open the tissues, not just visualizing it but manually doing it - is so vulnerable, but probably going to help me return to my power + sovereignty if I can continue to engage with it. So so grateful for your gentle, warm presence, fluidity, and care. I couldn’t believe it… how is *this* level of sensation and emotional release possible in just 8 minutes?!
