What is Internal Pelvic Care?

It is time for women to...

…prioritize their healing

…mother themselves the way they mother their family

…honor their bodies by resting when they need rest, moving when they need movement and listening to their intuition

Our pelvis is the key to balance in our lives.

It is the foundation of our body. When our pelvis is not in balance, it affects our whole being.

Lindsay Courcelle

In this fast paced world with so many demands, women often don’t feel they have the time or space to take care of themselves.

I want to change that by helping women heal themselves, starting with their pelvic bowls.

Through my training in Myofascial Release Women’s Health and Holistic Pelvic Care, I’ve come to realize how important pelvic health is to one’s whole being.

Many women have experienced trauma in their pelvis. Whether it was a childhood fall on her tailbone, sexual trauma, giving birth or some micro trauma that seemed insignificant at the time, most women have fascial restrictions in their pelvic bowls, leading to dysfunction not only in their pelvis (through incontinence, painful periods, painful intercourse, prolapse, etc.) but trickling up through the body in the form of digestive problems, back pain, headaches and TMJ jaw pain.

I work both externally and internally (vaginally or rectally) to help release fascial restrictions in the pelvic bowl. This therapy, often called pelvic floor therapy, is becoming more popular as evidence shows how effective it is at treating a wide range of pain and dysfunction.

Women find this work incredibly powerful and healing. Working internally allows me to access the pelvis from a different angle, allowing me to manipulate the position of the tailbone, to work on scar tissue from episiotomy or tears or to release tight gluteal muscles from the inside. These are just a few examples of how I might work with one’s pelvis.

I never force. Instead, I find the barrier and wait there for the tissue to release. I hold space for emotional release. I listen to the woman’s deepest needs and reflect back what I hear.

When one tunes into her body’s sacred wisdom, held in the pelvis, she feels a deeper connection to herself and to the earth. The body and spirit come back into balance, and she feels lighter, safer, joyful and buoyant.

What is Holistic Pelvic Care™?

Holistic Pelvic Care™ is a technique designed to restore physical, emotional, and energetic imbalances rooted in the pelvic bowl. Holistic Pelvic Care™ uses gentle internal work and guided visualizations to address many common pelvic issues including postpartum symptoms, birth trauma, pelvic pain, pregnancy loss, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, and sexual health. This care also supports alignment and function of the ovaries and uterus, and revitalizes creative potential. Holistic Pelvic Care™ was created by Tami Kent, a women’s health physical therapist who I greatly admire. She is also the author of Wild Feminine, Wild Creative and Mothering from your Center.

"Working with Lindsay provided me with so much insight on some ongoing struggles I've been having around my pelvic health. Her knowledge of female anatomy is unparalleled and combined with such a loving presence makes for such a powerful experience. I would recommend working with Lindsay (in person if you can!) without any hesitation. I've also started taking some of her online offerings and somehow she's able to transmit her beautiful energy and grounded wisdom even through a Zoom screen. Anyone who chooses to work with her will feel their life benefited by her heartfelt presence and knowledge!"

"I had my first pelvic MFR session and it was beautiful. She naturally made the session feel safe and comfortable, was very communicative and compassionate to my process. I would highly recommend!"

"Lindsay offers internal pelvic work as a part of her practice. I wanted to do it, but I kept coming up against waves and waves of fear through my body as we were getting closer to exploring that work.

I had doubts about whether it was the right time for me. “Maybe I need to do my own work more first,” I reasoned with myself.

Lindsay held space for all of the fear, and I was able to articulate a bit of what was coming up. She listened as my mind talked through it, she offered thoughts and support, and it slowed us down so I could ask for what I needed in the situation.

I got to a point where I decided I wanted to face my fear and move through the doubt, to do the internal pelvic work.

And…I had some of the most profound healing experiences of my life."
